2 years agoYes, basic biology explains how mutations occur.
Flu shots contain the strongest strains from the prior year, but you can still get a flu, especially a different strain. We will need a booster with the delta variant strain to help create antibodies. Viruses are virtually impossible to kill because of how they attack the cell. Bacteria can be killed. That is why flus, colds etc. keep coming back.
Bear with me here ... viruses and bacteria are living creatures and like every living thing ...

2 years agotheir goal is to SURVIVE and thrive. Thus they get stronger and stronger. A vaccine does not kill the virus, but it slows the replication of the virus to a point where we can develop stronger antibodies and with less viral cells to deal with, we can slowly and even potentially halt it's path. When one refuses to participate in the vaccine, the virus just gets stronger and stronger. As long as we have grotesque misinformation and people refusing to do their part, we will take years to get out of this. It is a tragedy that is easily preventable.

2 years agoOh Susan thank you hunny - for the prayers - which I need - also pray I get some patience - this waiting is the worst. For those of us who have lung issues this virus is especially deadly and for anyone with a compromised immune system just as scary. We need to look at this as a health issue not a political one- it’s been so confusing with the politicians fighting with the CDC - we need to take care of each other not fight - it’s so frustrating for me because Florida is the worst of all

2 years ago@Dee Van Yes it has mutated again...it's called Lambda variant and began in Peru but it's here now and it's worse than the other one. If you are vaccinated it would be pretty mild but hopefully your Daughter will take note and get herself vaccinated. The new variant is presently in 29 countries and it will continue to mutate as viruses do. It is so scary 😨and I don't think we'll ever really see an end to the virus sadly enough.
